Organ Donation Week – 2 to 8 September 2019

by aldc on 30 July, 2019

For one week, the UK celebrates those who donate organs, and therefore those who save lives. It draws attention to the subject of organ donation, and encourages more and more people to get involve, and help save someone’s mother, child or friend. The dates for this year have been announced as from the 2nd to the 8th of September 2019.

As the NHS website says – “Donation Week is always a highlight of the year – a wonderful week of activity to shine a light on the generosity of donors and the incredible impact they have on transplant recipients, and an opportunity to educate, inform and inspire people, to help save and improve more lives.”

Buildings, including 10 Downing Street, will be turned pink to raise awareness for the cause. People will be running marathons to raise awareness, and there will even be celebrity endorsements! Previously, the week has been extremely successful. In 2018, more people signed up to donate organs than in any previous organ donation week.

Join them this year and let’s save even more lives together. You can find out more here.
